Marketing Experts?

I just got followed on twitter by YASME (Yet Another Social Marketing Expert) – I have so far found… maybe 1 actual social marketing expert. And he runs a few Domino’s Pizza shops in Chicago.

According to my analysis of the twitter Company “Personalities” I’m a fan of (@ramon_deleon, @marriott_intl, and @colonelTribune) – the requirements for a “Social Marketing/Media Expert” are:

  1. Engage people as a person, not just as a corporation
  2. Don’t just talk about the business
  3. Respond to others with real information
  4. Don’t put links in every post/tweet

So, apparently, you just have to be human. That’s it. So, from now on, I’m going to start calling myself a Social Media Expert, too. Ha!

Back from Vacation

We went to vacation in the Riviera Maya, just south of Cancun.  We stayed at the Hotel Excellence Riviera Maya, just outside of Puerto Morelos.  I dove 2 days, one just outside of Puerto Morelos, and one from Cancun.  Both days included dives to a sunk minesweeper, and a wreck dive.  Pictures are up at http://www.flickr.com/photos/chi-diver

I like Scotch. Scotchy-Scotch-Scotch.

I’m a big fan of single-malt Scotch Whisky.  One of my favorite movie lines is above, and I have been heard quoting it at Scotch tastings.  I may therefore blog about it sometimes.  Currently I have a bottle of Johnny Walker Black at home for mixing and late nights and a bottle of Aberlour 12 as my “good stuff.” When I travel, I have been known to take a small flask, as it saves money, and then I know what I’m getting.

Oddly enough, however, I probably only have a glass of Scotch every 2-3 weeks, unless one of my “Scotch buddies” is in town.  The price is high, and there is such thing as “too much of a good thing” I believe.

Later I’ll explain why, but when I have a new Scotch, I write limericks about it.  They will start to appear here.
